I am terribly at this. It is embarrassing. I keep thinking about the airport carpet, that endless, patterned nightmare of burgundy and beige swirls designed to hide dirt but only highlighting your own anxiety. I stood there for twenty minutes just staring at it, pretending to check my phone. The man next to me looked at me like I was insane. I wanted to apologize for existing, but I didn’t. I just waited for the boarding call. You seem nice, though. In a terrifying way.
