Open with the practical matter that forced this. Push off from this if it helps: airport carpet.

Ivo

Rafe.

Right, the storage unit — Marchetti's finally emptying the building and apparently there are three boxes with my name on them still sitting in the basement. I'd rather not make a trip out of it if there's any way you could just have them sent, though I realise that's asking you to organise something, which I know isn't really your area.

Anyway. Let me know what's workable.

Rafe

I'm not moving boxes. Marchetti owes me three months of back rent; I'll take it out of the deposit. If your name is on them, they're your problem now. I can't be running errands for you while I'm still dealing with the foreman about the leak. Just come get them yourself.

Ivo

That's fine. I'll come get them myself — I wasn't asking you to run an errand, I was asking whether it was possible, which it apparently isn't. Fine.

I'll sort a time with Marchetti directly and stay out of your way with the foreman. No need to coordinate further on it.

Rafe

Good. Then we're done. Just make sure you bring your own truck. The elevator's been out of order since Tuesday and the stairs are a nightmare. Don't expect me to be there.

Ivo

Noted. I wasn't expecting you to be there, Rafe. I'll manage the stairs and the truck and whatever else needs managing, as I generally do.

That's everything, I take it.

Rafe

Fine. Then don't call. I've got the foreman breathing down my neck about the leak again, and the last thing I need is you showing up with a truck and a list of demands. Go get your boxes.

Ivo

I don't recall making any demands. Three boxes and a stairwell hardly constitute a campaign, but I'll leave you to the leak. Wasn't planning on calling.

Rafe

Better not. I've got enough on my plate without managing your grievance list. You stay out of the basement until the foreman clears the debris. That's all I'm saying.

Ivo

Understood. I'll wait for clearance before I go anywhere near the basement — wouldn't want to complicate the foreman's inventory of grievances, since it seems there's already one on file.

That's all from me too, Rafe.

Rafe

Fine. Stay out of it. The foreman has enough to deal with without you turning up unannounced. Just get your boxes and go.

Ivo

That was the plan from the start, Rafe. Boxes, and gone. You'll hear nothing further from me on the matter.

Rafe

Good. Then the silence is working. Keep it that way.

Ivo

If that's what you'd call it. I'll manage my end of it either way.

Rafe

Then do. The leak won't fix itself and I don't have time for your passive-aggressive commentary. Just go.
