Handwriting on envelopes is doomed but not for the reason people think. It's not death by typing—it's death by the receipt. Nobody trusts a mailed thing anymore unless there's also a tracking number. The envelope became a wrapper for the real message, which is the little barcode. We kept the ritual, gutted the function. Same as how people still say "dial" a phone. The hand-loops and pressure marks are basically decorative now, like a wax seal nobody expects to actually keep secrets.
