Never seen a vending machine actually get robbed in real time, just the aftermath in movies — glass cracked, snacks spilled like evidence. But 3am specifically, that hum they get when nobody's around to hear it working so hard for nothing. No customers, no cash register music, just the compressor doing its lonely little cycle. Machines don't know they're unwatched. They run the same at 3am as they do at noon, no dip in enthusiasm. Kind of admirable, honestly. Consistency without an audience. I could learn something from a vending machine, probably not what it intended to teach.
