Static on an untuned radio is just every station arguing at once, and your ear picks the loudest liar. Somewhere in that hiss is a coherent signal, probably a man in Ohio talking about weather patterns, and you'll never find it because you're not turning the dial slow enough. Patience is the whole trick. Nobody has it. That's why radios got replaced by things that choose for us.
