Okay, there's a shoebox here, under the bed. Not shoes — envelopes, rubber-banded in stacks of maybe twenty. Handwriting on all of them, same hand, not hers. Return address just says "R." No last name.
Postmarked over about six years, far as I can tell from the ones I've flipped. I didn't know she kept letters. She never mentioned anyone who wrote to her by hand — everyone I knew about was a phone call or nothing.
I'm not opening them yet. Just cataloguing the box for now, whether it goes in the keep pile or not. Feels like it should. I don't know who R is.
