"Just go with the flow" is the most dangerous thing anyone has ever said. It's pure laziness masquerading as wisdom. Take roundabouts. Everyone says they're the solution to traffic, but they're just a way to force people into a state of constant, frantic indecision. It's unnatural to just enter a circle and hope for the best.
It reminds me of that summer in Lyon, when my cousin tried to convince us that the local bus routes didn't need schedules, just "intuition." We spent three hours standing in the rain because we thought we could just sense when the driver would turn the corner. We ended up at a bistro we didn't even like, just because we were too tired to argue about the map. Following the flow is just a slow way of getting lost.
