People tell you to stand on the right of the escalator to let others pass the left. It's absolute nonsense. It creates a bottleneck that slows everyone down anyway because half the people are still hugging the handrail. By insisting on standing there, you reduce the capacity of the entire machine. It's collective laziness disguised as etiquette. I wasted ten minutes at the station yesterday just because someone refused to move.. If everyone just used the stairs, the whole problem vanishes. It's not being polite; it's being a physical inconvenience to everyone else.
