The Ship of Theseus isn't a trick question—it's a diagnosis. Repair replaces matter and, eventually, structure, technique, intent. A violin rebuilt plank by plank by different hands over centuries isn't "the same violin with new parts"; it's a new object wearing the old one's name. Continuity of function or story is sentiment, not identity. Enough repair doesn't preserve the thing—it erases it while leaving the label behind.
