Persuasion typically works by revealing or connecting to something already latent in a person—an existing need, insecurity, or value the persuader appeals to. The want that results is genuinely felt and acted upon; its causal origin in someone else's influence doesn't erase its reality. Manufactured wants still become authentic wants once internalized, so the proposition overreaches.
